New York Midnight Open is an ICT reference taken at 00:00 New York local time. It is not the opening price of every exchange.

Draw one line at the midnight price. With a reference of 100, 110 is above and 90 is below.

Convert to Korean time

During U.S. DST, New York midnight is 13:00 in Korea on the same date; during standard time, it is 14:00. September 1, 2026 at 00:00 New York is 04:00 UTC and 13:00 Korea. January 1, 2026 is 05:00 UTC and 14:00 Korea.

Convert using America/New_York rather than a fixed UTC hour year-round. The 2026 U.S. clock changes occur March 8 and November 1.

Which observation is the reference?

For continuous data, a bar opening at that exact timestamp can supply the price. First verify whether the source timestamps bar opens or closes.

If the market is closed or no trade occurs, an exact midnight open may be unavailable. Keep it missing or explicitly label a predefined substitute; do not silently copy an earlier close. Venues may also have different prices.

Above the line is a location, not a forecast

Being above or below the reference describes relative price. It does not establish future direction. A BTC midnight-reference study is different from a U.S. equity regular-session opening study.

Keep a repeatable daily record

Store reference date and price, source and instrument, reference bar, distance, and first revisit time. A day’s eventual high and low are only known after the day ends.

The reference makes comparisons consistent. Whether it supports a useful entry requires separate rules and testing.
